Lady Shaunte’ Garrett Named Inaugural Recipient of the Tracy Morgan Excellence in Broadcasting Award at The Spin Awards

Atlanta, GA — October 26, 2025 — The Spin Awards, the organization honring those in radio who spin the Gospel, proudly presented the inaugural Tracy Morgan Excellence in Broadcasting Award to Lady Shaunte’ Garrett during the 2025 Spin Awards ceremony on Saturday, October 25, at the Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Established this year, the Tracy Morgan Excellence in Broadcasting Award honors outstanding professionals in radio whose careers reflect excellence, longevity, and faith-driven leadership.

The legacy Award carries the name of nationally syndicated radio announcer and media trailblazer Tracy Morgan, recognizing her decades of years of impact in the broadcasting industry.

“Lady Shaunte’ is an extraordinary talent whose work embodies everything this award represents — dedication, leadership, and service through media,” Tracy Morgan said. “It’s an honor to see her legacy recognized through an award that carries my name. Her heart for people and her excellence behind the mic truly set a standard for all broadcasters to follow. She's the perfect first recipient.”

Lady Shaunte’ Garrett, affectionately known as “Lady Shaunte’,” is a Stellar Award–winning gospel radio announcer and station manager whose career spans decades of innovation and influence. Born in Oakland, California, and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, she was named one of the Forty Under 40 “Inspired Leaders for Tomorrow” by the San Diego Urban League.

Lady Shaunte’ currently serves as the on-air midday host and station manager at 790AM & 99.1FM The Gospel in Nashville, TN, which, under her leadership, earned a Stellar Award for Radio Station of the Year in 2013. She is the author of the 365-day devotional Speak to Your Life and a former writer for the nationally syndicated Donnie McClurkin Show. Her career also includes work in the talent departments for Soul Train, MTV, and The Source Awards.

Beyond the studio, Lady Shaunte’ has been deeply involved in ministry and community service. She has served in the Kairos Prison Ministry in San Diego County and The Bridge Ministry in Nashville, which supports the city’s unhoused population. At her home church, Nashville Life Church, she is a life group leader and prayer partner.

Recently named one of Nashville’s Most Beautiful People by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine and honored with The Phenomenal Woman Award by Women Who Rock Nashville, Lady Shaunte’ continues to use her platform to uplift and inspire others.

The Tracy Morgan Excellence in Broadcasting Award debuted during The Spin Awards Weekend Experience, held October 23–25, 2025, in the Atlanta area. The multi-day event featured free sessions, networking opportunities, and live performances, culminating in the red carpet awards show on Saturday night.
